Alan Kay receives Kyoto Prize
posted by Peter William Lount
June 12, 2004 SFGate reports that "Computer scientist Alan Kay, a Silicon Valley pioneer, has won this year's Kyoto Prize for his work in the 1960s and 1970s that paved the way for the development of personal computing technology." "In February, he and three colleagues from Xerox PARC received the Charles Stark Draper Prize, given by the National Academy of Engineering, for their work in this field." Kay said he "put a lot of effort in trying to help the world of technology to be more sensitive to human beings and their needs." Congratulations Alan, and thanks for creating Smalltalk. Also thanks to the whole team that brought us Smalltalk. Copyright 2006 by Smalltalk.org, All Rights Reserved. |
